Guidebook writers rate it among the toughest long distance trails in Europe, and the numbers explain why: roughly 180 km on paper, but around 11,000 m of cumulative climbing packed into it, more total ascent than most trails twice its length.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMost walkers take about fifteen days to finish, sleeping in refuges strung along the ridge each night.
